MARTYRUM (SWEDEN)

MARTYRUM made its entrance with the two song 'Frost Born' demo of 1996. The band had been created some two years earlier as a quartet comprising vocalist Adde Holmberg, guitarist Kim Cerny, bass player Aron Coombs and drummer Jonny oberg. Subsequently Jocke 'Destroyer' Olofssson took over the drum position. A split cassette release 'Mörker' shared with MORANNON arrived the following year, after which Coombs departed. Andreas Andersson stepped in on bass as substitute and further successive demos included 1998's 'Towards The Dark Empire' and 1999's 'Burning Blood'. During this period MARTYRUM underwent a series of tribulations as in 1998 Olofssson left to join IN AETERNUM and in 1999 Andreas Andersson died. Olofssson made a return to the ranks in 2001 for 2002's 'Conquering The Land Of Sin' demo.
