MOURN (ENGLAND)

Mourn, a Doom band, was formed 1991 in London by guitarist Will Palmer, they started to play locally from 1991 to 1993 when they recorded the classic demo "For evermore", a 4 tracktape that grabbed the attention of Rise Above Records 'president Lee Dorrian immediately. After the release of the demo both drummer Alan French and vocalist Caroline Wilson quit. The band promptly drafted in drummer Mark Cronin, actually an original MOURN member, and vocalist Lee Smith as replacements. Smith would depart to join PENANCE and the band was disrupted by another change when guitarist Alastair Riddell left. MOURN regrouped by re-enlisting Caroline Wilson and adding ex-DECOMPOSED guitarist Ali Reza Hikimi Ghazvini ('Reverend Al') and the group gained valuable touring experience in 1994 by opening in Britain for CATHEDRAL. They released their self titled CD in 1995.
