WARGOD (USA/CA)

Los Angeles Thrash Metal band was an early port of call for both guitarist Michelle Meldrum, subsequently of PHANTOM BLUE, and drummer Gene Hoglan, of DARK ANGEL, DEATH and STRAPPING YOUNG LAD repute. Besides his band activities, Hoglan was well known on the local metal scene as lighting technician for SLAYER, OMEN and SAVAGE GRACE and journalist for 'The Headbanger' fanzine. The band's opening line-up saw Meldrum and Hoglan joined by bass player Blake Edwards. WARGOD bowed in with the 1985 rehearsal cassette 'Into The Abyss', the demo 'Day Of Atonement' following shortly after. Hoglan opted out to join DARK ANGEL, first featuring on the 'Darkness Descends' album, whilst Meldrum forged PHANTOM BLUE.
