LEGION (ECUADOR)

Legion was formed in the city of Portoviejo, Manabí province, with the disintegration and subsequent union of two musical projects called Atrox and Adicción, in October 1995, these two projects decided to join and form the band LEGIÓN with the following line-up: Fernando Cevallos (ex-CRY and Mortom) on drums, Dover Chinga and Wacho Alarcón on first and second guitar respectively, Juan Carlos Robles vocals, and Marcelo Villavicencio on bass. Faced with the need to make themselves known within the Ecuadorian scene, the band decided to record a promotional rehearsal of 4 songs called "Promo`97", which was distributed in Colombia, USA, Germany, Spain, Bolivia, Chile, Paraguay, Peru, Argentina, Mexico, Costa Rica, among other countries, and of course throughout Ecuador, receiving excellent comments from the specialized press. Due to the good reviews from fanzines and the general public, they received the proposal to record for the Remiso Recs label. from the city of Quito, with whom an agreement was reached, and in the first days of May 98, Legion entered the studio to record their first official production and the first professional production of a black metal band in the country. By the end of June of the same year, the debut demo, called “Ocaso de la Luz”, was released, containing 8 tracks, 6 songs, an intro and an outro. This demo managed to sell 700 copies in just 4 months and is already sold out. Several reissues of this demo have been made, selling more than 3,000 copies, becoming the first professionally edited cassette by a black metal band in the country, immediately becoming one of the cult works within the Ecuadorian underground.
