MID-EVIL (CANADA)

MID-EVIL, evolved from a variety of antecedent Quebec Metal bands including the mid eighties, French language LYS, the 1985 founded Power Metal band NIGHTMARE and Speed Metal band METALLIZED forged in 1988 leading up to the creation of MID-EVIL in 1989. That year the group opened with the 'Underground' demo, followed up by the 'Unconscious Predator' session in 1990 and 1991's 'The Unspoken Truth', recorded at Peter Pan Studios in Montreal and produced by OBLIVEON guitarist Pierre Rémillard. This third tape scored MID-EVIL glowing press across the US Metal media, prompting recording of December 1992 tracks, once again produced by Rémillard, intended for record companies. Hollywood Records showed interest but in the Autumn of 1993 rhythm guitarist Denis Bouthillette quit, being replaced by Shawn Carrier of NEFARIOUS. MID-EVIL fractured as Carrier took bassist Louis Raymond into NEFARIOUS. Vocalist Benoit Choquette and drummer Richard Devault forged the eco-aware Progressive Rock band GREEN KINGDOM. Choquette made the transition to drums for a career in Jazz Rock, his JAZZ ROCKESTRA project also featuring MID-EVIL colleague Louis Raymond. Carrier would join Death Metal band DEAMON as drummer in January of 2002.
